St. Peter office to open on July 13th



We're pleased to announce that our new St. Peter office in the lower level of the church building will be open for business starting Monday, June 13th.

Office hours will be
* Mondays from about 9:15 am - 3pm
(Open just after the 8:30 a.m. Mass, manned by our business manager, Greg Feldkamp)

* Fridays from about 9:15 am - 3pm
(Open just after the 8:30 a.m. Mass, manned by Deacon Ron)

If you come in person, just ring the doorbell by the lower level door.

If you want to phone in, just call either parish office line.  Debbie will transfer you.  After business hours, you can leave a message for Deacon Ron or Greg at the St. Peter parish office anytime, by pressing Extension 1.   (Note: With the recent office move, the extensions have changed.  To reach Debbie's voicemail in the main parish office, you will now press Extension 0.)

For the St. Peter's parishioners, if you would like to stop by for a Mass intention or other business in person, please come to the office during these posted hours.  If you prefer to reach Debbie, you can still contact her by phone during standard business hours (off Wednesdays) or email (sccr.parish@outlook.com)  She is happy to assist all parishioners of the South Clermont Catholic Region.

As a reminder, we have programmed the phones so that Debbie will automatically receive all calls dialed to either parish line whenever she is in the office.

One more note: since Covid-19 has not yet died down, we will ask all visitors to the parish office to wear a mask when visiting.  We will have disposable paper masks by the front door as you come in.

  Last year brought our nation countless acts of destruction and violence,with many people harmed and killed in riots and protests resulting from the death of George Floyd and related activism.  This year is starting out no better, as political activists have violently broken into the nation's Capitol building today in an apparent protest of vote counting for the recent presidential election.   There are reports now of one woman shot and at least injured in that melee.  Please pray to Our Lady, Queen of Peace, that as a nation we will be able to resolve our deep political divisions without resorting to violence and the destruction of life.

New priests' ordination video

The Archdiocese has recently published a very good 3-minute video of the ordination of three new priests for service to the Archdiocese. You will hear snippets from Archbishop's Schnurr homily and see a few scenes from that ordination Mass.  There are many powerful symbols in that ordination ceremony, including the men about to be ordained priests lying prostrate (on the ground, face down) before the altar, symbolizing that they are dying to themselves as they become "another Christ." In the photo above, after the bishop consecrates the men with prayer and laying on of hands, all of the other priests concelebrating the Mass also lay hands on them, showing that they now share in the one priesthood of Jesus Christ, the great High Priest. Confession availability (drive-up confessions) [UPDATED]

UPDATED 3/31/20.  See new entry for St. Mary's confession time. OK.  So my makeshift confessional won't look quite as elegant as the confessional booth in this photo, but I have set up a temporary outdoor confession station at St. Peter's, in the picnic shelter behind the church. I will be posting more hours here on this blog and also posting a sign on the shelter posts as I add hours over the next few days.  The first confession hour will be Monday, 3/30, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.  Please spread the word.  If there are still penitents waiting at 6:00, I will wait too. I am also giving thought to when and how I can hear confessions at St. Mary's.  Will keep you posted on that. Please note that the church allows confessions outdoors in these unusual circumstances, so the sacrament will be valid even though not offered in church.
